FVRA has received the following information from SGN (Scotia Gas Networks) about essential replacement of gas pipes in Findon Valley. SGN are the gas distribution company who manage the network which delivers gas to homes in Southeast England. They look after the pipework up to your gas meter. The gas flowing through the pipes belongs to your chosen gas supplier along with the gas meter. SGN are using the services of I&G Contractors Limited to undertake the work.
The programme of work is extensive and will involve replacing old metal gas pipes with plastic pipes to ensure they continue to provide residents with a safe and efficient gas supply and avoid gas leaks in the future. The works are expected to start on site Monday 11th August and last for approximately nine months,
Because most of the pipes are in the road they will require varying traffic management arrangements as work progresses through the roads in the Valley. They have supplied an outline preliminary programme for the works as detailed below. Further communications with more detailed information will be shared with the individual roads affected over the coming months. A short length of Shepherd Mead next to the 'grassed triangle' at top of Central Avenue will be used, for the duration of the project, as the contractor's compound as shown in plan below.

Traffic management will affect all roads but for the majority of the time traffic is expected to pass on a give and take basis. Work around junctions is expected to have multi-way temporary traffic lights as required by West Sussex County Council. When work takes place on the junctions with the A24 they will require directional road closures. They have committed to keeping residents updated on the changing traffic management arrangements as work progresses. .
