Our Findon Valley History Group put together several displays of historical pictures and interesting articles that proved to be very popular at the Merriman Grange Open Day.
This included the history of Skyring - the large house that stood where Merriman Grange has been built.
Skyring was previously owned by renowned local surgeon Mr George Dickson. Mr Dickson introduced key-hole surgery techniques to Worthing; he was an innovative and well respected gentleman surgeon.
The FVRA were responsible for introducing Mr Dickson's widow, Mary, to Merriman Grange who then decided to honour his memory by naming one of their refreshment areas 'Dickson's Café ' with Mrs Dickson unveiling the plaque on Saturday.
