A chilly start to 2026, keep well and warm everyone.
Despite the post-Christmas drop in spirits, there is plenty going on in the Valley to get you out and about and involved in community events this month.
Monday 5th January
SGN gas works recommence in the Valley. We are grateful to Jim and the I&G Team for leaving us traffic light free over the Christmas and New Year period. Works recommence in Maytree Avenue, Limetree Avenue and Findon Road. The works have progressed well and are on schedule for completion in March.
Tuesday 6th January 2pm
Come along and meet Maggie and Matthew at the Community Garden, by the Library, to help us plan the refurbishment works we have planned for this Spring. We recently secured CIL Funding from Worthing Borough Council to help us replace the wooden troughs which, after 10 years hard service, are in poor condition, everyone is welcome.
Wednesday 7th January 10am
Come along to the Free Church Hub Coffee Shop and chat with our PCSO, Ed Mitchell over a cuppa. Ed is always willing to hear about any issues you may have.
Thursday 8th January 07:30-18:00
The service road outside Kings Parade shops will be closed to all vehicles for repainting of the road markings by WSCC.
Saturday 17th January 2pm
Meet at the Coombe Rise car park to join Sompting Morris and the Sussex Folk Orchestra who are helping us to wake up the fruit trees in the Community Orchard. We will be welcoming Worthing Mayor Cathy Glynn-Davies.
Sunday 25th January 9am-1pm
Our first Artisan Market of the year! Limetree Surgery car park. Lots of our regular stall holders will be there and Nathan's coffee will be there to provide a warming coffee whilst you browse.
Friday 30th January 2-4pm
The Local History Group kicks off 2026 with an illustrated presentation by our friend and local historian, Alex Vincent. Entitled 'Windmills of Sussex' Alex will give us an insight into those mills lost and those that have survived and will have copies of his latest book available for sale. We will be serving homemade cakes and a warm drink as usual. Everyone is welcome at the Free Church Hub.
Looking forward to seeing you!
