Gas Works A24 Update

I attended a meeting with SGN, I&G contractors, West Sussex County Council and Elizabeth Sparkes, our local Councillor this morning to feedback our comments regarding the ongoing works on the A24.

I was able to emphasize the importance of communication between I&G and the community. My weekly meetings with Jim have been useful and have provided updates for you and prompt action to address the issues we were experiencing; the backing up of traffic on to the Offington Roundabout at the beginning of works and the rat running along Maytree/Limetree Avenue. A spotter was put in place to address the first issue and additional signage was added to try and address the latter.

I also contacted Ed Mitchell, our PCSO, to make him aware of the huge increase in fast moving traffic along our residential roads at peak times. He was able to attend on two occasions this week to provide a visible deterrent but obviously he cannot be there all the time. Elizabeth also raised the issue of no signage at the bottom of Bost Hill, which has also seen an increase in traffic trying to avoid the delays caused by traffic lights. She will further liaise with WSCC Highways officers and SGN today to try and make the signage across the Valley clearer and more impactful.
