FV5K - Planning the Route with Julia Griggs

Updated: Aug 2

When we were first discussing organising a 5K run in the Valley, we were clear we wanted something that would incorporate the stunning natural landscape that we have on our doorstep in Cissbury Fields. We also wanted something that was different from the very flat 5K route along the sea-front; something that was challenging, but not too much so.

Thankfully we knew the perfect person to ask to design such a route - Julia Griggs.

As the coach and Founder of the Foxy Ladies Running Club, Julia Griggs has been leading runners of all abilities for more than 10 years from Findon Valley and was only too happy to be involved in the route planning (blame her for the hill climb!).

I thought it would be good to offer a mix of road and trails with a cheeky incline to appeal to all. I want to encourage as many people as possible to get out and get moving and to enjoy the wonderful views Findon Valley has to offer. If you put a slightly challenging (but small) hill in people will not only work harder to get up it but feel very happy when they get to the top with what they have achieved, then the down hill is also all the more sweeter!

Julia and her Foxy Ladies are always welcoming new members - if you're already a runner or a complete newbie and not sure where to start, why not give Foxy Ladies Running Club call?

We're absolutely delighted with the route Julia has designed for us, and we're really looking forward to running it with everyone on September 8th. If you haven't bought your ticket yet, there's still time to do so here:

And the route? Here it is, available for you to follow via Strava. Now to get some practices in...
